Year 6 Topic Launch

Year 6 had an incredible time during their History of the Page day set in World War II. The morning kicked off with the children stepping back in time as evacuees in a 1940s-style classroom. They experienced the challenges of wartime education, using chalk and blackboards, and following strict instructions from the "teacher." The children embraced the chance to write with old-fashioned pens and ink, copy lessons from the blackboard, and learn in a very different setting from their modern classrooms.

In the afternoon, the students transformed into shopkeepers and shoppers, running their own market stalls and navigating the wartime economy with old money. They had fun figuring out prices, haggling, and budgeting, all while managing rationing and shortages. The hands-on experience brought history to life, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, gaining a deeper understanding of life during WWII while having lots of fun!
