Year 5 Greek Day
On Monday the 7th November, the junior hall was transformed into a bustling Ancient Greek marketplace. The children became Greek citizens for the day and toiled tirelessly: carving, painting, sculpting, mosaic making and learning to be physicians. In the afternoon, a great feast was held to celebrate the victory in war, with entertainment delivered by the children themselves in the form of two Greek tragedies, a Greek comedy and finally a display of marching. The children sampled a selection of local delicacies such as feta cheese, pitta bread and fruit, although the dates were not favoured by all! As always, the children’s behaviour was impeccable with our visitor stating that she would be requesting to return in the future.
