WWI Aviation Heritage Trust visit
Pupils in Year 6 from Katherine Semar School were visited by the WWI Aviation Heritage Trust this week. The fully funded visit supported the children’s historical learning around WWI and the children all received an informative presentation and quiz from the chief trustee Dick Forsyth. The visit was also a STEM initiative and the children experienced flying a WWI plane in a simulator, wearing a VR headset, whilst being taught and supported by Ant and Ed Abery (aircraft groundcrew and flight simulator operators). This thoroughly enjoyable hands-on experience and Ant and Ed’s knowledge really supported the children (and some of the teachers!) to experience what it would have felt like to pilot a WW1 aircraft.
